It took us a whole summer of weekends to build this, plus part of the following summers' weekends. It looks easier than it is. It seemed like every pier, post, beam, floor joist, floor plank, had an angle cut, or in some way, you had to take into consideration the pool in the middle of the deck. I have no more hair to pull out. I think we probably could have built this deck in much less than half the time it took, if it didn't have a pool in the middle of it. And yes, we got a building permit! And it's a good thing we did because the building inspector showed up before we got it all finished. It passed the final inspection ! Now all we need is a keg of beer and some girls in bikinis and we'll be good to go!
